It is my great honor of being elected as the
chairman of MMNC Division in the session of 2008 / 2009. I am really
delighted to have this chance of taking up such important position to work
with the MMNC committee to serve our members. Mechanical, Marine and Chemical
Engineering are long regarded as a profession requiring diversified
knowledge, exposure and experience. Our competent engineers spread in almost
all industries and achieved a lot of success. However, on the other hand, our
identity under the title of ˇ§Mechanical and Chemical Engineerˇ¨ becomes
unclear. With this reason in mind, the first mission I want to achieve in
this session is to unify the strength of MMNC Division by bringing the
professions in mechanical, marine and chemical disciplines closely together
to enhance our identity. In fact, with the great works accomplished
by the past chairman and his committees in last many sessions, it is
encouraging to see that the Division gained the momentum to advance ourselves
and provided a wide range of activities for our members. In last session, we
have established the Automotive Engineering Special Interests Group to
provide a platform for the experts in this area to share their expertise with
other HKIE members through organizing seminars and technical visits and also
make contribution to the society through participating of technical advisory
committee. In this year, I would like to further extend this effort by
exploring the possibility of setting up other special interests group in
other associated engineering profession within our Division. This is my
second mission. The third but also the most important
mission I have to accomplish in this session is to work with the committee
closely for planning and delivering the program for celebrating the 30th
Anniversary of MMNC Division. All in all, we are therefore foreseen a
very busy year for the whole MMNC committee and our supporting forces.
Nevertheless our activities shall not be successes in absence of your
support. And I am sure that the new MMNC committee will join me to exert our
utmost effort to make MMNC Division to remain as one of the most active
division in HKIE at our 30th Anniversary and most importantly to serve our
members as much as we could in the years to come. Barry Lee |
